What attracted you to Scrapbooking?

I have always had a passion for photography which led to an extensive collection of photos but with no info attached, so when I discovered scrapbooking initially through a CM workshop I realized I could combine my love for art and passion for photos into one application, bonus with journaling! 6+ years later the rest is history!

How do you create your layouts?

Either products or photos are my first initial urge to scrap. If mojo isn’t happening for me straight up I love to use sketches (Becky Fleck is a fav of mine) but there are heaps available now to us as well, plus online galleries or scrapbook mags, packaging, advertising etc.

How do you choose your supplies?

I think I’ll always be a ‘photo-focused’ scrapbooker, so therefore my photos are my the direction I choose for what  embellishments I want to  use and are intended to be complimentary to the overall layout. I like things coordinated. I have my favourite paper companies- ie. Basic Grey, Making Memories, Kaiser amongst a few. Love bling, rubons and sewing which feature on most of my layouts.

My RoomiesHow often do you scrapbook? When do you do most of your work?

I scrap at least once a week, but hopefully more often than that depending on what I’ve got on my agenda – Dt work to complete or more spare time outside of looking after my family and working outside the home. All I can say as most would agree- not nearly as often as I would like to! I’m a night owl- so my best inspiration comes when I’ve got the hours to myself LOL!

How long does it take you to complete a layout?

Anything from 2 hrs to a lot more- depending if I’ve got a straight run of it. One thing for sure is that I like to complete a project before going onto something else and I don’t like to leave things undone when I’ve got the mojo happening.  Difinately not a procrastinator- its either happening or its not!

What technique do you love but are yet to try?

I guess in 6 years of scrapbooking I’ve tried a lot but I’m still yet to develop my skills at stamping and embossing with the heat gun and powers etc. I tend to shy away from techniques that involve a lot of mucking about yet I’m happy to sew for hours on my projects- but that’s just needle and thread LOL!

How important is journalling to you?

Very important, I think this is the thing that separates photos from just been encased in a photo album verses a scrapbook album, provided of course I do journal- I know only to well you can’t remember things forever, so you need to keep notes of the important stuff.

How often do you handwrite on your layouts?

I do both but I tend to handwrite more so these days, mainly because I often do the rest of the Layout first and than journal in the space left over LOL! I think the handwriting gives our work a personal touch too.

What inspires and motivates you to create if you get a creative block?

I would probably have to say browsing online galleries or participating in challenges will help me relieve my creative block.  Also, following a tutorial to try a new technique can help too.

What inspires and motivates you to create if you get a creative block?

A good rest, newly discovered photos (whether old or new) and new products. Also sketch challenges etc! Deadlines – create under pressure ROFL!!!!

Describe your scrap space

A small office- tidy and organized, but too hot in summer! Hence better to scrap at night!

Do you prefer to scrap alone or at a crop?

Mostly on my own or with my SIL. Though a small group of friends does ok too on occasions!

What advice would you give to new scrapbookers?

Surfer Boy

Buy the basic tools ie. A good trimmer and try to resist the crazy urge to buy a whole lot of product before you have decided on the project. Keep it fresh- buy a bit at a time and use it straight away! Don’t be afraid to try lots of ideas. There is no such thing as a mistake- just a new creative direction!!

Do you have a blog? What do you use your blog for?

Yes I do –  A Moment to Share My blog mostly showcases my scrapping work and general conversation of it but it's also a family record too.

If you had 3 wishes, what would they be?

  1. To have my entire family together, on Christmas Day!
  2. To be able to afford the luxury of being home a whole lot more than I am right now!
  3. To have all the backlog of my photos all scrapped!

Please share with us, 5 random things about yourself.

  1. 5pm onwards is my favourite time of the day- it’s the party girl within LOL!
  2. Early 2009 I’ll be a Nanna for the first time!
  3. I prefer sweet over savoury!
  4. I love antiques and a country lifestyle
  5. Scrapbooking wouldn’t be as nearly as special or fun without the inspiration of my family!
